The Battle for Greatness

Right fielders Ronald Acuña Jr. and Kyle Tucker have had some of the greatest seasons this year. They now face each other with stats and plays to determine who is the best right fielder of all time.

On a cool day in Atlanta, as Ronald Acuña Jr. came up to bat after his ACL tear in the 2025 baseball season, he saw his first pitch and knew that it was gone. On the first pitch of the season, he hit a home run.

Meanwhile, in Chicago, on a 1-to-0 lead, Mookie Betts came up to bat and hit a ball that would have scored the tying run if Kyle Tucker had not dived and caught it.

These two players both make the MLB insanely exciting. But in a battle for first, who really has better stats?

Born on January 17, 1997, Kyle Tucker has an amazing superstar mom who played for UCLA in softball. Through much intense training he got into the MLB in June 2015. For 10 years now, he has been an idol to many people. He has played for the Houston Astros and Chicago Cubs. He has 1 championship and 4 all star appearances adding a gold glove and 2 silver sluggers. On his journey to become one of the best right fielders, he averaged .273 in hitting. That is pretty good. For five years from 2020 to 2025, he has averaged 26 home runs. Not that bad, but it could be better.

Ronald Acuña Jr. born on December 18 1997, had a legendary dad who taught him to love the sport of baseball. He bypassed the draft system in 2014 and somehow got to the Atlanta Braves who he stayed with for his whole career so far. He made his MLB debut in 2018. For 5 years of playing time, and 2 years of ACL tears, he averaged a .289 average with 1 championship, 5 all stars, an MVP, and 3 silver sluggers, and the only one in the MLB that has 40 home runs and 70 stolen bases in one season.

When these two baseball freaks go head to head in stats, we see Ronald Acuña Jr. way higher in hitting. But not everything is about offense. When Kyle Tucker is on defense, he is much better than Ronald Acuña Jr. on the catch percentage. With that being said, after combining all of these stats I believe that Ronald Acuña Jr is way better than Kyle Tucker. Let me explain. Although Kyle Tucker is an elite defender, Ronald has the best throws anyone has ever seen. He throws from the home run fence to third base. Although stats may not impress anyone, he is the best at highlights. Not only that, but seeing Ronald Acuña Jr. in-person is so much crazier than watching him on tv or staring at his stats.

Interestingly, Kyle Tucker does have a higher salary, but that makes teams want him less. With Acuna’s skill and cost, he might be the best right field right now in the MLB. There is one problem, though. Ronald Acuña Jr. has missed two seasons because of injuries making other teams worried he might not be worth it after all. But if you look at (the most overrated) Shohei Ohtani, he got injured twice too. This shows that Ronald Acuña Jr. has just as much chance to succeed. Without a doubt, this makes Ronald Acuña Jr. the best right fielder in baseball currently. I mean what would you do if you lose Ronald Acuña Jr. from your team?
