Contest Prompt:
Teach your readers how to do something in your niche. Whether it’s learning how to crochet, how to beat a difficult level in a video game, or how to craft a mesmerizing fantasy fiction setting, this is your time to be the expert. Create a how-to blog post, video, or podcast episode.
Deadline:
Due July 31st @ 11:59pm
Guidelines:
You must be enrolled in the Teen Journal Journey program to compete in writing contests
350-500 words or 2-3 minute video/podcast episode
Title must begin with “How to…”
Break steps into clear sections with interesting headings
Add a personal anecdote or insight about your experience
Use direct, clear language
Include any tools or materials needed
Make it achievable—aim for beginner-friendly instructions
Must include 3 or more pictures if writing a blog post
Prizes:
1st place: $25 + 2,000 points
2nd place = 1,000 points
3rd place = 500 points
Submit:
You will submit your draft just like any submission (use button below). We will still ask you to edit it, but as long as you get your draft in by the deadline you are entered into the contest.
Winners always announced 10 days after deadline.
