August: Hot Take Contest
Contest Theme: “Got a strong opinion?”
Contest Prompt:
Share your hot take on a controversial or surprising topic in your niche. Create a blog post, video, or podcast episode.
Deadline:
Due by August 31st @ 11:59pm.
Guidelines:
You must be enrolled in the Teen Journal Journey program to compete in writing contests
Minimum of 350 words but no maximum
Can be done as a video/podcast episode
Start with a bold opening sentence
Back up your opinion with examples, logic, or experience
End with a question or call to action for the reader
Be respectful, even when being bold
Acknowledge opposing views (and explain why you disagree)
Add a catchy, opinion-based title
Must include 3 or more pictures if writing a blog post
Prizes:
1st place: $25 + 2,000 points
2nd place = 1,000 points
3rd place = 500 points
Submit:
You will submit your draft just like any submission (use button below). We will still ask you to edit it, but as long as you get your draft in by the deadline you are entered into the contest.
Winners always announced 10 days after deadline.
